Scottish Borders

The Scottish Borders are a sparsely populated region, steeped in the history of conflict, situated as they are, between Edinburgh and the English border. It's also a beautiful and tranquil area through which the Tweed and its many tributaries meander. The main towns are Galashiels ("Gala"), Melrose, Peebles, Jedburgh, Hawick, Selkirk and Kelso. In contrast to the rest of Scotland where the round ball version of football is dominant, the Borders has always been marked out by its devotion to Rugby Football, and has produced many of Scotland's finest rugby internationals.
