North Ayrshire

North Ayrshire lies on the Clyde Coast and also includes the island of Arran which lies an hour's ferry trip to the West. The main population areas are situated inland in the Garnock Valley and its towns of Beith, Kilbirnie and Dalry, on the coast in the "three towns" of Ardrossan, Saltcoats and Stevenston and in the New Town of Irvine. The more genteel coastal communities of West Kilbride and Largs are also situated within North Ayrshire and lying between them is the Hunterston Nuclear power station and deep water terminal.
