Argyll & Bute

Argyll and Bute is a large and fascinating area on the West coast of Scotland, with a rich and ancient history. Many of Scotland's island communities including Bute, Mull, Iona, Islay and Jura fall within Argyll and Bute, and its combination of mountains and sea lochs make it one of the most stunning parts of the United Kingdom, so much so that the Council promotes the area as the UK's "Best Environment". It's by and large a rural community, sparsely populated and heavily dependent on tourism offering excellent sailing, hillwalking and other outdoor activities. The main towns include Helensburgh, Rothesay, Dunoon, Campbeltown, Oban and Lochgilphead.
