Nobody knows better what's going on in any part of Scotland than the people who live there – so we've provided somewhere we can tell each other all about it.

We want to keep Scotland's communities thriving and talking, so we built the s1local network of websites to let people around Scotland talk about what's happening near them and what matters to them.

There's debate about burning issues, pictures and video, free small ads, meetings, announcements, hobbies, societies and campaigns.

Bands can announce concerts, football teams can post their fixtures and results, Scout groups can advertise their jumble sales, photographers can show everyone their pictures, and amateur historians can talk about the past.

Local groups and businesses can even set up their own pages – and if they already have a site, they can link to it and attract a new audience.

Our Scottish community sites are open to pretty much anything – it just has to be local. The format is very flexible, and it's completely free.

The sites are the work of s1, the online division of Herald & Times Group. We use our experience with setting up quality websites to make sure our local sites look good, work well, and aren't allowed to slowly die off like so many community sites do.
